A vegetarian recipe for the bbq. Fruit and Haloumi can be grilled very well. When you think of the word bbq you quickly think of meat, but with these two vegetarian recipes for the bbq you make good ornament. Fruit on the bbq is tasty and it looks colorful. For example, put some Aleppo pepper on a peach and some lemon juice on the avocado. Deliciously fresh and it forms a delicious combination with a piece of meat but also with this Haloumi satay. Haloumi does not melt and you can go in many directions with it.
Ingredients Haloumi and dressing
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp Aleppo pepper
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp water
- salt and pepper
Cut the haloumi into strips of about 1.5 cm in diameter and prick them on a satay stick. Grill them on the bbq until they have nice stripes. Only place them 1 time on each side.
Mix all the ingredients for the honey mustard dressing together. Taste and make to taste. Serve the haloumi on a plate with some dressing and a lime.
I read a recipe of a bbq salad with mango but actually all kinds of fruit can be grilled very well on the bbq and it gives a special touch to your meat dishes or, as we have done in this recipe, the haloumi on the bbq. Cut fruits such as peaches and avocado in half and remove the pit. Pineapple and mango can be cut nicely into slices. Do not move the fruit too much on the bbq so that you get nice equal stripes on the fruit. Sprinkle the pineapple and peach with some Aleppo pepper and the avocado with some lemon juice.
